Terms of use
Last updated August 2026
These terms cover your use of the UnPack application and this website. By installing or using UnPack you accept them. They are deliberately short, and there is nothing hidden in them.
1. What you get
UnPack is free. Every feature is included in the single build — there is no paid tier, no licence key, no trial period, no feature that expires, and no upgrade to sell you. You may use it for personal, commercial, and client work at no cost, on as many computers as you like.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the application. We may stop distributing it or change it at any time, but a copy you have already installed keeps working — it does not check a server for permission to run.
2. What you may not do
- Sell, rent, or redistribute the application as though it were yours
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where law expressly allows
- Remove or obscure any notice of ownership or attribution
- Use it to infringe someone else’s rights — see section 3
3. Your files are your responsibility
UnPack opens and extracts files that you provide. It does not check who owns them.
You are responsible for having the right to open and extract every package you use it on. A licence to use an asset pack in a Unity project is not automatically a licence to redistribute its contents, and extracting a package does not grant you rights you did not already have. Publisher terms and asset store agreements continue to apply exactly as before.
We provide a tool. What you do with it is yours.
4. Data
What UnPack sends, why, and how to switch it off is set out in full in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: your packages and their contents never leave your computer, the counters it does send can be turned off in Settings, and turning them off costs you nothing.
5. Independence from Unity Technologies
UnPack is not sponsored by, endorsed by, or affiliated with Unity Technologies or its affiliates. Unity is a trademark or registered trademark of Unity Technologies or its affiliates in the U.S. and elsewhere. We use the word “Unity” only to describe what this software is compatible with.
The .unitypackage format is read by inspecting files you already have. We do not use Unity source code, Unity libraries, or any Unity trademark in the product itself.
6. No warranty
UnPack is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
It is careful with your files — it only ever writes to the folder you choose and never modifies the package you opened — but no software is faultless. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose. That is true of every tool, and we would rather say it than imply otherwise.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, iRex Studio LLP is not liable for lost data, lost profits, lost time, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from using UnPack. Because the application is supplied free of charge, our total liability to you is limited to zero.
Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If your local consumer law gives you rights that these terms cannot remove, those rights stand.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be noted here with a new date, and significant ones will be surfaced in the application. Continuing to use UnPack after a change means accepting it; if you do not, uninstalling is the remedy and costs you nothing.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction, except where your local consumer law entitles you to bring a claim where you live.
